Bacau International Airport
On April 1, 1946, the Bacau airport was opened to the public. It carries passengers and cargoes out of Bacau to the different parts of the world. The airport has a runway with 2500 meters length and it has a width of 80 meters. Bacau Airport is the largest in northeastern Romania. In 1975, it was formally declared as an International Airport.

Bacău Airport has an annual traffic of 32,000 passengers since it accomodates travellers from different nearby communities like those from Brasov, Iasi, Focsani, Galati, Piatra Neamt, Suceava and Vaslui. These days, there are already three airlines serving the people. These are Blue Air, Carpatair and TAROM. 2 international flights and 5 non-stop flights are leaving from this airport every week. The smallest aircraft that leave here is a 48-seater ATR.

Transportation and Facilities
Bacau airport is very accessible to all types of vehicles. There are taxis, public buses and airport shuttles that bring passengers from Bacau to the airport. These transportations are found outside the airport terminal for easier access.

While waiting for the cheap flights being offered by the different airlines, passengers can unwind on different establishments found within the vicinity of the airport. There are restaurants and snack bars that offer wide variety of food. There are also several medical facilities such as first aid area, which offers immediate assistance to sick travelers. Other facilities like banks and hotels are not available from the airport terminal but there are arrays of choices from the city.

Bacău occupies a land area of 41 kilometers and has a population of almost 176,000. This serves as a hub for other communities since it has easy access to other parts of the region. The railway in Bacău serves as a transit stop for trains coming from countries like Russia, Bulgaria and Ukraine.

The culture of Bacău is very rich. It is the home of poets like Vasile Alecsandri and George Bacovia. The Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as the Mihail Jora, was hailed from this community. There are also some Dramatic theatres and Puppet theatres in the area. Painting camps and exhibits are also famous in this area.
