Erbil International Airport
One of the airports currently servicing Iraqi Kurdistan is Erbil International Airport. It is situated in the northwestern part of Arbil, opposite of Ankawa suburb. It has facilities for cargo and passengers. There are daily flights from this airport but there is only one international flight made per week. To date, there are only 3 airlines operating here. These are Iraqi Airways (flights for Sulaimaniyah), Hamburg International (flights for Frankfurt) and Austria Airlines (flights for Vienna). Cheap flights are also available from time to time, depending on the season.

Erbil Airport currently has one terminal for both departures and arrivals. At present, there is an ongoing construction for a bigger terminal and longer runway to accommodate the increasing number of passengers. The new terminal, once finished, can accommodate the largest aircraft in the world. It can hold the Antonov 225 as well as the American C-5 Galaxy plane. The new terminal is expected to be finished by 2008.

Transportation and Facilities
When going to Erbil Airport, passengers have the option to take taxis and buses. These transportations have airport routes and will bring travelers to the terminal gates. Those who prefer to hire cars can also do so. There are several car agencies within the airport that they can inquire from.

Once the new terminal is constructed, additional facilities like post office, restaurants, fuel stations, car parking and medical/health center will be found within it.
