Andøya Airport, Andenes
The Andøya Airport in Andenes, Norway, is dedicated to military operations, including space surveillance operations. It is home to the Norweigan Space Center and the Andøya Rocket Range. It is owned and operated by the Avinor, Norway’s state-owned airline operator. The Andøya Airport is served by the Widerøes Flyveselskap ASA, or simply known as the Widerøe. The Widerøe’s operations are composed of mostly Public Service Obligation transactions or services. These are government-commissioned services auctioned off to companies. These companies are then given the privilege to monopolize these service operations for which they were commissioned.

The Widerøe is part of the short take-off and landing network in Norway, utilizing small aircraft with minimal runway requirements. Such are composed of minimal-seater airplanes that are commonly chartered for specialized travel.

About Andenes Tourism
The Andenes is the northernmost settled region in the island of Andøya. This is located in the Nordland county in Norway. The Andenes has, and always been, an crucial fishing village, since the Iron Age. By the early 1900s, it became one of they key, largest fishing ports in Norway.

The most awe-inspiring sights to see in Andenes include the Midnight Sun’s appearance, visible from the 19th of May up to the 25th of July. The Andenes is also one of those locations where experiencing the Aurora Borealis phenomenon (Northern lights) is made possible. In fact the Andøy municipality calls itself “Nordlyskommunen”, “The commune of the Aurora Borealis.”

The local rock music scene is pretty vibrant, quite a surprise for a town that seems to be located on one of the ends of the earth.
