About Ancona Tourism
Ancona, an ancient city in Italy, was built from Syracuse. The word “Ancona” originates from a slightly modified Greek term that means “Elbow,” owing to its northern promontory that is shaped like an elbow.

Ancona, Italy is home to quite a lot of ornate, medieval establishments and edifices, from the marble Arch of Trajan, a Roman triumphal arch, one among several others established by the Roman Empire, in the reign of Trajan. These arches are scattered in several points in Europe, and Ancona, Italy is home to one of these.

Among the other edifices are the Lazzaretto, a pentagon-shaped building originally intended to isolate contagious diseases and keep them from infecting the military defensive authorities. Planned in 1732, it was eventually used as a military hospital or barracks. Today, it is used for cultural exhibits.

Other tourist spots include the Episcopal Palace, the church of Santa Maria della Piazza, the Palazzo del Comune, and a mixture of several other late Gothic buildings, as well as Renaissance architecture.

It is a port city serving the Italian region of Marche, perching on the Adriatic Sea.
