Borg al Arab Airport
Alexandria Airport is popularly known as Borg El Arab Airport, is the second airport that is presently serving Alexandria. It is situated about 60 kilometres southwest from the heart of the city of Alexandria and about 3032 kilometres from Paris. Alexandria airport is currently being operated by the government of Egypt. It was opened in 2003 as a public airport but prior to that it was mainly used as a military airport. Several airlines like Emirates Airline, EgyptAir Express, Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa Airlines are among the airlines that are currently flying in Borg El Arab Airport. In 2007, there are more than 200,000 passengers that left this airport. This statistics is about 2% growth compared with the number of passengers for 2006.
Transportation and Facilities
El Arab Airport has one terminal building at present. It covers the check-in counters, immigration counters and waiting area. Within the area is a gift shop and car rental agencies. If you do not want to rent a car, you can take a taxi or shuttle service which can bring travelers to the nearby areas. There are buses which are operated by Western Delta and Super Jet that brings passengers from the airports going to Sidi-Gabr. These buses are available every 30 minutes from 4:00 am up to 7:30 pm. There is a parking area found outside the terminal for travelers who prefer to bring their cars with them.
